Schaab Scholars engaging in Word Work! |

We've had two very busy weeks in Room 217! After completing our SMART goal together as a class, and making sure that it was specific, measurable, had an action plan, was reasonable, and had a time limit, we finally published it! As a class, we are going to work towards earning 1,000 Dojo Points by October 1st. As you can see in the picture, we drew in green, things that would help us meet our goal. We then also drew outside of the arrow, things that would hinder us from meeting our goal. We will be reviewing our goal regularly to make sure we are on track. We also set individual SMART Goals, which hopefully you saw from your Schaab Scholar. Each Scholar created their own arrow on Google, and now we have them proudly displayed in the hallway outside of our classroom. The Schaab Scholars will have goal conferences weekly on Friday with me to check the status and progress of our goals. We will be shifting the focus to our goals on academics in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more goal setting!

Last week, the Schaab Scholars walked into our classroom on Wednesday to find that I had changed the configuration of our classroom. While some students love working in collaborative groups, others were finding that they needed their own space. So I moved the classroom around to the structure that you see below. We have some group space, and some "individual-ish" space on the outskirts. So far, it's been a good change and we are hoping that our space can meet everyone's needs one way or another.

This week is safety week! We will be having a variety of safety drills all week. We will be discussing proper behavior and exhibiting Field CARES during these important practices. I know that the Schaab Scholars will rock all of these drills!
I'm excited for a new week to begin as we embark on many new learning adventures and continue some that we've already started!
