About Me

I'm excited to be teaching 4th grade at Field Elementary School this year!  I started my teaching career in 2005 teaching 5th grade at Field School.   I loved being a part of the Field School family and working with all of the amazing students and staff, working with Student Council, and leading the Patrols.  During that time I also earned a Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership from Elmhurst College as well as a Master's Degree in School Administration from Concordia University.

In 2011, I pursued an opportunity at Roosevelt Elementary School as an Instructional Technology Coach where for four years I provided professional development for teachers, co-teaching students from Kindergarten to 5th grade, and loads of planning with teachers to enhance instruction with technology and other hands on tools.   I learned so much from working with so many different teachers and students .   In 2015 I made the jump back into classroom, with an amazing group of 4th graders, I knew I made the right choice of moving back to the classroom.   I have been blessed to have two amazing classes so far and I'm excited for this year's class as well.

My goal as an educator is to empower all of my students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, enthusiastic readers, and skillful researchers. I embrace the whole child valuing intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being. I want to inspire all students that enter my classroom to be life-long learners and create a safe environment for students to takes risks with their learning.  As a life long learner, I'm constantly reflecting on my practice to continuously improve.   Currently, I'm waiting for my results from completing National Board Certification.  Over the past three years I met on a regular basis with other educators and reflect on my teaching in efforts to improve my practice and maximize student success.  Although the long feedback wait time is annoying, I really enjoyed this process and am hopeful to hear the results in December.

When I'm not at school I'm busy with my amazing family.  My husband and I love our neighborhood and sitting outside reading and watching our children play.  My oldest daughter, Lila, is a second grader at Franklin School.  She loves gymnastics and playing the piano.   She loves reading non fiction, especially about people and flamingos.   She also loves graphic novels.  My son, Marco, is in Kindergarten at Franklin School.  He loves playing soccer, creating inventions, and anything Star Wars.   My youngest daughter, Lennie, is attending Messiah and is in three year old preschool.  She loves soccer, singing Moana, dancing, and really anything to keep up with her older siblings.   She loves reading Moana and Ladybug Girl books every night before bed.  My kids keep me pretty busy, and love hearing about my adventures at school.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or you just want to say hello by clicking on the envelope or my name above.   I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
