We LOVE Room 320!
Thank you so much to our room parents for the awesome Valentine's Party! We loved the party and hated to have the activities end. The Scholars loved passing out all of their Valentine Treats and enjoyed learning about such a historical day. :) Check thier folders for an infographic showing what they learned.

Welcome to 4th Grade in Room 320!
Hello, Schaab Scholars & their amazing parents!
I'm hoping that if you are here that you've recieved my letter and are just as excited about starting school as I am. This is my 13th year teaching in District 64 and 3rd year teaching 4th grade at Field School. I started my teaching career at Field as a 5th grade teacher after student teaching in 5th grade at Field School. I was an Instructional Technology Coach at Roosevelt for 4 years, but then wanted to move back to working with kids every day. Luckily, that meant me coming back to Field. I think you can infer that I love to teach!
In 4th grade, we are going to learn many new and exciting things. As readers, we are going to tackle many books, genres, and add new strategies to help us comprehend what we read. As writers, we are going to learn different genres, and use a workshop model to help us become stronger writers and partners. As mathematicians, we will be learning all about problem solving, persevering through tough multi step problems, and of course, learning how to do long division. As scientists, we'll perform hands on experiments and formulate questions to help us better understand plants, energy, the earth's changing surface, and waves. As historians and geographers, we will study the geography of the United States and look at the different regions that make up our amazing country. As Schaab Scholars, we are going to use the 4th grade curriculum to help us set goals, make mistakes, learn from our mistakes, and grow together as a classroom community. We will learn how to set a SMART goal, and how to stay accountable and follow up on our goals.
I'm so excited to start a new school year and meet each and every one of you (if I don't know you already). Please feel free to reach out and say prior to the start of the school year via email. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone one week from today.

New Year... New Spaces!
I hope everyone is off to an amazing summer! We have been spending lots of time at the pool, the library, and outside! I had a personal first and completed the adult book club - I was definitely pushed outside my comfort zone, but read some amazing books! The most surprising was the book translated to English. Now I'm reading the Battle of the Books list to build up my 4th grade book reading knowledge. I'm also a part of a book club with weekly homework to learn about new strategies to teach reading and writing. That's been fun too - especially doing my homework outside.
As June came to a close, so did my time on the 1st floor. I am now teaching 4th grade on the 3rd floor! I love my new classroom, and I'm excited for yet another change. Don't worry, Ronald Reagan made the move with me. You may also notice that my blog address has changed - I'm now located at http://schaabscholars.blogspot.com.
